In this drama, Sun Qian plays Lu Yan, a smart and determined anesthesiologist who gets involved in investigating a serial murder case alongside her ex-boyfriend, Jiang Chengyi, portrayed by Johnny Huang.
In a recent interview with Sohu, Sun Qian shared her insights about her role, the challenges she faced, as well as her thoughts on Huang Jingyu and the possibility of future collaborations.
Sun Qian describes her character Lu Yan as someone who evolves from a cheerful personality to a more mature and introverted individual. "I find this character very interesting because it incorporates elements of romance and mystery," she said.
However, filming in a tense and dark atmosphere posed its own challenges. "When we were shooting in a narrow and dark alley, we all felt really scared," she revealed.
Sun Qian admitted that she is easily frightened, which made the experience quite psychologically intense for her. To cope with her fear of watching the drama at night, she suggested, "Find someone you love and hug them."
One particularly memorable filming experience for Sun Qian occurred during an emotionally charged scene. She recounted, "Even though we are both quite shy, we felt awkward in every scene we shot."
These small moments added a humorous and warm touch behind the tension of the story. Sun Qian also highlighted how good communication among the cast, especially since they are all from Northeast China, helped create a more intimate atmosphere on set.
Sun Qian also spoke about her co-star, Johnny Huang Jingyu. She described Huang as handsome and warm-hearted, despite often playing the role of a cool and tough police officer. "After getting to know him, I realized he is very kind, like a boy from Northeast China who does good deeds without expecting anything in return," she remarked.
Sun Qian also revealed that Huang frequently bought warm soup for the entire team during the cold winter shoots.
Regarding the possibility of future collaborations with Johnny Huang, Sun Qian is open to the idea. "If there’s an opportunity and a good script, I would definitely love to work together again," she expressed. She added that the chemistry between them on screen is crucial for the success of a drama.
