Feud Role Nearly Broke Bai Lu, Joseph Zeng: “I Couldn’t Breathe!”

LayarHijau.com – Behind the fantasy love story of the drama Feud, Bai Lu and Joseph Zeng (Zeng Shunxi) faced both emotional and physical challenges while portraying their characters. More than just delivering visually stunning scenes and divine romance, the two stars had to dig deep into raw emotions—at times, almost reaching their limits.

During a recent livestream with fellow actor Liang Yongqi, Bai Lu opened up about one of the hardest scenes she had to perform—Hua Ruyue losing her child. “In the script, the child dies in Hua Ruyue’s arms. I’m not married and have never been a mother, so I truly didn’t know where to begin emotionally,” Bai Lu revealed, as quoted by World Journal.

She added that on the day of filming, both she and Joseph Zeng sat in separate corners with headphones, listening quietly to a track composed by Lu Hu specifically for the drama. “We didn’t say a word. We just built up the emotions on our own,” she recalled. That moment proved that despite its otherworldly setting, Feud demanded deeply human performances from its cast.

The physical demands were no less intense. Joseph Zeng shared the unforgettable experience of filming a “flying kiss” scene on Xiaoqiu Mountain. “We had to kiss while hanging in the air, spinning around with our faces pressed together like pancakes. It was so hot that day, and I couldn’t breathe after the kiss,” he said, laughing. Bai Lu added, “And you got heatstroke that day!”

The sweat and breathlessness led to one of the most iconic moments in Feud. Viewers praised both actors for their full commitment to the roles and the depth of chemistry they brought—despite the discomfort.

Joseph Zeng’s character Bai Jiusi also went through a dramatic transformation. After suffering a soul-shattering blow, Bai Jiusi fell into a coma. When he woke up, he lost all his memories—except one: he recognized Hua Ruyue as his wife. From that moment on, Bai Jiusi displayed a drastically different personality—gentle, clingy, and affectionate. He gifted her a hairpin, handed her a lantern, rested in her lap, and acted spoiled just to be near her.

Hua Ruyue, though initially suspicious that he was faking amnesia to rekindle their relationship, couldn’t resist his tender affection. Their sweet interactions melted the audience’s hearts. Many netizens left comments like “sweetness overload”—a phrase that captures just how overwhelmingly adorable the scenes were.

Feud officially aired its finale on June 24, but the heartfelt performances and undeniable chemistry between Bai Lu and Joseph Zeng left a lasting impression. From heartbreaking loss to lovable affection, their portrayals made this divine love story feel painfully real—and unforgettable.
