LayarHijau.com – Chinese actor Dylan Wang has once again found himself at the center of attention—not for a new drama or film, but because of a bowl of noodles and a pair of chopsticks. A humble noodle shop in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, unexpectedly went viral after placing the bowl and chopsticks Dylan Wang used during a 2023 visit inside a glass display case.
Labeled “Dylan Wang’s Bowl and Chopsticks,” the display quickly became a check-in hotspot for fans, who eagerly posed for photos and relished the chance to feel closer to their idol—even if only through his former tableware.
Online reactions were swift and divided. Some praised the shop’s move as a clever marketing strategy, making the most of Dylan Wang’s skyrocketing fame. A few fans even joked that it had become a “pilgrimage site” for his admirers.
But the move didn’t sit well with everyone. Many netizens criticized it as over-the-top celebrity worship, calling it “fanatical” and “excessive.” One comment read, “Turning a used bowl into a tourist attraction? That’s just too much.”
In response to the backlash, the shop owner, Mr. Jia, clarified that the display was originally set up to accommodate fan requests. However, after realizing the misunderstanding it could cause, he chose to take it down.
“It was just meant to make the fans happy, nothing more. But I don’t want it to cause any negative impression of Dylan Wang,” Mr. Jia said, as reported by World Journal.
Dylan Wang is currently enjoying a peak in popularity following his lead roles in the fantasy romance Love Between Fairy and Devil (苍兰诀) and more recently, the historical drama Guardians of the Dafeng (大奉打更人). Despite his rising fame, Wang has also drawn some criticism during his career.
In one variety show performance, he covered the song “Confession Balloon”, but the unstable pitch of his vocals led to online mockery. Still, he pressed forward with his musical aspirations, officially releasing the single Tango by the Sea (海边探戈). While the track received attention, many noted it sounded overly polished—more like a studio product than a genuine vocal showcase.
Controversy aside, one thing remains clear: Dylan Wang’s presence continues to captivate his fans. Even something as ordinary as a bowl and a pair of chopsticks can become a symbol of connection—a quiet bridge between star and admirer, protected behind a sheet of glass.
