LayarHijau.com — The latest costume drama "Love of the Divine Tree," starring Deng Wei and Xiang Hanzhi, premiered on iQiyi on February 7, 2025. In an interview with Sohu, Julia Xiang Hanzhi shared her intriguing experiences and insights about her co-star, Deng Wei.
This 40-episode drama follows the journey of Su Yishui, an immortal genius, and Mu Qingge, who undergoes a change in destiny. In her role, Xiang Hanzhi portrays two very different characters, Mu Qingge and Xue Ranran, while Deng Wei plays Su Yishui, the student of Mu Qingge.
Xiang Hanzhi expressed her admiration for Deng Wei, stating, "I think he is very handsome, with a two-dimensional vibe, a bit too perfect, and very fitting for the impression of an immortal." She also added that although Deng Wei appears somewhat aloof on social media, he is actually a very kind and caring person.
During the filming process, Xiang Hanzhi experienced profound moments. She noted, "When you become an actor and perform a scene, you feel like you've entered another realm. You don't have much subjective awareness. You just follow the plot." These are the moments when she feels the happiest as an actor.
One particularly memorable scene for Xiang Hanzhi was when their characters interacted in a humorous and sweet way. She recalled, "There’s a scene where he eats something I made, and suddenly a few other students come in. That scene was quite beautiful." She also highlighted a moment when Deng Wei's character gets drunk, which she found very impressive.
Regarding her characters, Xiang Hanzhi feels there are many emotions to explore, including the relationships between teacher and student as well as between lovers. She hopes the audience can feel this emotional depth. "I hope everyone can watch 'Love of the Divine Tree.' There are many different emotions in it, including those between teachers and students, and between lovers," she stated.
Looking ahead, Xiang Hanzhi expressed her desire to collaborate with actors and actresses who have a strong aura, such as Gong Li. She hopes to portray challenging and interesting characters while continuing to refine her acting skills. "I want to have a charismatic personality like hers," she concluded with optimism.
