LayarHijau.com--Douyin has permanently banned the accounts of Zhang Lan and Wang Xiaofei, the former mother-in-law and ex-husband of Barbie Hsu, due to their behavior following Barbie's death.
On February 8, the social media platform announced that both individuals had "violated public order, social norms, and moral standards, disrespected the deceased and their families, and provoked significant public backlash."
Li Liang, Douyin's vice president, stated: "They have repeatedly broken the rules in the past and have faced penalties, but they have never made corrections, so we ultimately decided to ban them."
The controversy arose after a Chinese influencer known as "I am Xiao Xiao Jian," reportedly linked to Zhang, claimed during a livestream that Wang had funded the private charter transporting the deceased actress's ashes from Japan to Taiwan.
Zhang liked this livestream, which gained traction in global media and deeply upset Barbie's family, prompting her widower DJ Koo to address these rumors during his time of mourning.
Meanwhile, Zhang, who lost her source of income, denied Douyin's allegations, stating she merely liked "I am Xiao Xiao Jian's" video without sharing it on her personal account. However, she admitted that she had not verified the charter flight claims with her son Wang, Yahoo Singapore reported.
Additionally, Sina Weibo has suspended the live broadcast feature on Zhang's account.
