"The Legend of the Condor Heroes: Great Hero" Breaks Pre-Sale Box Office Record in China

LayarHijau.com—According to data from Lighthouse Professional Edition, the film "The Legend of the Condor Heroes: Great Hero" has achieved an outstanding milestone, surpassing 80 million yuan in pre-sale box office by January 19, 2025. This achievement makes it the top pre-sale box office champion for domestic films in Chinese cinematic history. Additionally, it has outpaced "Detective Chinatown 3" to become the fastest film to reach 80 million yuan during the Spring Festival in Chinese film history.

The movie is adapted from Chapters 34 to 40 of the famous novel by Jin Yong, "The Legend of the Condor Heroes." Written and directed by Tsui Hark, the film stars Xiao Zhan and Zhuang Dafei, and is set to release in mainland China on January 29, 2025, coinciding with the first day of the Lunar New Year.

Pre-sales for the six Spring Festival films began at 9 a.m. on January 19. With the start of pre-sales, the box office competition among these films officially commenced. The pre-sale results and audience attendance rates will significantly influence the film schedules in cinemas in the days following the Spring Festival. During this period, theaters are typically filled with viewers, making any increase or decrease in showtimes for a movie have a substantial impact.

It is important to note that once pre-sales begin, no film will be withdrawn from screening unless there are extraordinary circumstances. In other words, all six films are confirmed to be released on the first day of the Lunar New Year.

After 10 hours of pre-sales, data from Maoyan shows that "The Legend of the Condor Heroes: Great Hero" is leading by a wide margin, accounting for 39.5% of the total box office, with pre-sale figures exceeding 53 million yuan. If this trend continues, there is no doubt that the box office on the first day of its release will surpass 100 million yuan, Sohu reported.

In second place is "Nezha: The Devil Boy Conquers the Dragon King," with a pre-sale box office of over 24 million yuan, less than half of what "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" has achieved. Following that are "Detective Chinatown 1900," "Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force," "Operation Hadal," and "Boonie Bears: Future Reborn." Unless there are dramatic changes in audience reviews, the pre-sale rankings are likely to remain as they are during the Spring Festival holiday.

One thing to keep in mind is that pre-sale box office figures do not always correlate with screening schedules. In terms of showtimes, "Nezha: The Devil Boy Conquers the Dragon King" holds the top position, followed by "Detective Chinatown 1900." Initially, "The Legend of the Condor Heroes: Great Hero" was ranked fourth after "Creation of the Gods Part II," accounting for 17.3%. This can be understood, as martial arts films rarely screen during the Spring Festival, leading theater managers to be more confident in scheduling larger films with established references.

The impressive pre-sale results are largely attributed to the strong support from Xiao Zhan's fans. Their enthusiastic rush to purchase pre-sale tickets has been a key factor in achieving such high figures.
