Post-Credit Scene of Blossom Opens Up Possibilities for Season 2?

LayarHijau.com – The Chinese drama "Blossom," starring Li Yunrui and Meng Ziyi, has become a hit this month. The series concluded on a satisfying note and received a score of 7.5 on Douban.

Interestingly, this drama might be the only one featuring a post-credit scene, following the trend set by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Spoiler Alert: The explanation below contains spoilers.

After the credits roll, a post-credit scene appears, lasting about 120 seconds. In the beginning of the drama, Dou Zhao (played by Meng Ziyi) can rewind her life after receiving a Revelation book from Jing Yong.

This post-credit scene revolves around a similar book. Song Mo's daughter, 5-year-old Lianjun, encounters a mysterious old man who gives her a book, which she begins to read.

The old man then asks Lianjun what she thinks of the story. Lianjun finds it rather ordinary, as she has already heard it from her mother. Although the characters are the same, the story is different.

"You are mistaken. This book tells of events that may not have happened yet. There may be some very powerful individuals in this world who can change the fates of the people in this book, not just the characters written in it but also those who aren't," says the old man.

Lianjun admits she doesn't understand the old man's words and feels he is deceiving her. "Don't lie to kids anymore; be careful, or I’ll tell my mom," she says as she attempts to leave.

The old man then stops her and offers three other books since she isn't interested in the first one. The title of the drama in Mandarin is actually "Nine Purple Layers."

The old man offers additional titles ranging from "Ten Purple Layers" to "Twelve Purple Layers." This clever play on titles indirectly invites the child to choose the continuation of the story.

The hints provided by the drama team in this scene suggest that "Blossom" may not end here and could have a Season 2. If a drama like "Joy of Life" can extend to three seasons, it's not out of the question for "Blossom" to reach Season 3 based on the number of books.

Viewers are also reminded that this post-credit scene resembles the final scene of the legendary Stephen Chow film, "Kung Fu Hustle." In that film's ending, an old man selling kung fu books to the main character also offers a series of kung fu books to a young boy who is uninterested and wants to leave.

However, the old man prevents him from leaving and presents more kung fu books. The similarity of this post-credit scene can be seen as a tribute from the "Blossom" team to "Kung Fu Hustle." Yet, this tribute is unique, as "Blossom" and "Kung Fu Hustle" have vastly different tones.
